About & Safety

Run properly, staffed properly, the detail behind why parents trust us with their kids.

Who We Are

Camps built around what kids actually need

Activities 4 Kids runs multi activity holiday camps across Sussex, built on a simple idea: kids need to move, make things, and be genuinely looked after, all in one place, without parents having to stitch together three different bookings to make a day work.

That's why swimming is built into the day through our partnership with Wet Wet Wet Swim School, rather than left as a separate extra. It's one team, one programme, one place your child needs to be.

How we keep every child safe

Safety isn't a policy document we keep in a drawer. It shapes how every session is staffed and run.

The Detail

What "safe" actually means here

Every member of staff, checked

Enhanced DBS checks for every member of staff before they ever work with a child, no exceptions.

First aid, always on site

Paediatric first aid trained staff present at every session, not just a certificate on file.

Ratios that actually hold

Staff to child ratios kept within Ofsted guidance across every age group, every day.

Qualified swim instruction

Every swim session led by a qualified instructor from Wet Wet Wet Swim School, never unsupervised.

Clear sign in and sign out

Every child signed in and out by name, released only to authorised collectors.

Safeguarding lead on site

A designated safeguarding lead present and reachable throughout every camp day.

Please Read Before Day One

Health & safety policies

A few things every parent needs to know before their child's first day at camp.

Infectious illness

Please do not bring your child to camp if they've suffered any infectious illness, flu, diarrhoea or sickness, in the last 48 hours. Attending camp indicates your assurance that your child, and the home they've come from, is free of signs of any infectious illness.

Verrucas & warts

Verrucas and warts are highly contagious, so your child won't be allowed to swim with one unless it's adequately protected. We'd suggest a strong waterproof plaster or a verruca sock.

Nut free lunches

Activities 4 Kids operates a strict nut free policy. A number of children who attend camp have serious allergies, so we ask that all lunch boxes and snacks are completely nut free.

Prevention is always better than cure. An allergic reaction serious enough to need an EpiPen can lead to shock, leaving a child unwell and exhausted, and can be fatal. Please ask a member of staff for our list of safe and unsafe foods for allergy sufferers, and stick to it when packing lunches and snacks.

No Nut Policy: please help us keep every child safe. Suitable examples include fresh fruit, fresh vegetables, plain rice cakes, snacks clearly labelled nut free, and foods checked carefully against the ingredients list. Not suitable: peanuts, tree nuts, peanut butter or Nutella/chocolate spread, nut bars, pain au chocolate and products containing nuts, pesto or other foods containing nuts, and products labelled 'may contain nuts'. Examples only, please check every ingredient label before bringing food in.
